Have you been looking for an alternative to cooking with seed oils?  Well you have some to the right place!  We love using animal fats for cooking and skin care and after years of requests, we finally sell our healthy beef fat (also called "suet") in 1 pound packs on our retail website.  What do I do with the suet you ask?  We are here to help you...

We are thrilled to share two tallow recipes with you, one for  BASIC COOKING TALLOW, one for  COCO BUTTER & BEESWAX
TALLOW BALM!

BASIC COOKING TALLOW RECIPE:
1 lb Richards Regenerative Raw Suet
2 TBSP Sea Salt
4 Cups Water
Crock Pot
Step 1: Render the fat by placing all above ingredients into your crockpot and set on low for at least 6-8 hours, stir every 1-2 hours so the fat does not burn. Once it is completely melted, continue to Step 2.

*Above is how our suet comes raw.

Step 2: Set up a fine mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth. Turn off melted tallow and let cool for about 30 min.  Once a little cooled strain the fat and place in a glass bowl on the counter to solidify.

Step 3: Once the tallow solidifies, pop it out of the bowl you will see the salt and beef particles have collected to the bottom of the bowl, scrape this part off.

*Repeat Steps 1-3 until the tallow is pure white and has little to no smell, I like to render 3 times.

Step 4: On your third time rendering, melt tallow and put into a glass jar with a lid.  You can use this to cook eggs, meats, veggies, basically everything is more delicious when using tallow!  You will end up with about a 1/2 lb of beef tallow after rending.

Storage: At room temperature and stored in a glass jar with a lid, this can be safely stored for up to 6 months.

COCO BUTTER & BEESWAX
TALLOW BALM RECIPE:
1/2 lb Rendered Tallow
1/4 cup Raw Bees wax
1/4 cup Raw Coco Butter
Essential oil of choice, I like using lavender & lemon
Double boiler, or small pan with metal bowl on top

Step 1: In a double boiler add the rendered tallow, on low heat, stirring
until just melted.

Step 2: Slowly add the Bees Wax and then Coco Butter, stir until just melted and then turn off double boiler.

Step 3: Put the melted mixture in a metal bowl and place in the freezer for 20 minutes.

Step 4: Take bowl from freezer and using hand blender, blend the mixture until you get a fluffy texture and there are no lumps.  At this point with mixer on, add your essential oils of choice.

Step 5: Once your desired texture and fragrance is achieved, add your tallow balm to glass jars or container.  Use on your body and face as often as you need.  This is a wonderful product to use in the winter months!

Storage: At room temperature and stored in a glass jar with a lid, this body butter can be safely stored for up to 6 months.
Refrigerated, this body butter will last a year or even longer.
